THE ECHO AND THE SOUND

THE ECHO AND THE SOUND is a two piece, guitar and drums band, based in Los Angeles, CA. formed in late 2012; BRIAN RICH (guitar/vocals) and DOUGLAS JEWELL (drums) made it very clear early on… “YOU CAN’T KILL US UNLESS WE QUIT.” With punk rock overtones, blues-folk undertones, country-esque and gothic cantina styled, their sound has been described “as if Bob Dylan and Sam Shepard got into a fist fight while drinking in a desert cantina.”

jef joslin

JEF JOSLIN

Now in Venice Beach, Joslin has truly narrowed in on his “California Soul” sound. On any given day you can find him serenading drifters along the Venice boardwalk and see people of all shapes and sizes dancing along to his mellow rhythm. Playing songs from his latest release, Come Out West, a blend of Stevie Wonder’s Motown groove, dripping with Brian Wilson-esque harmonic arrangements, he has encapsulated the feel good, California sunshine music he always dreamed of making. To top it all off, Joslin produced, wrote, mixed and mastered the entire album. He even designed the album artwork.

Somehow in the midst of all this he still finds time for one more dream. “I always wanted to be a Beach Boy: live by the beach on the west coast, play music, create art and surf…I’m doing all that and more now. Anything from here is just icing on the cake.” From one dream to the next, Joslin’s art explores the idea of life as an adventure, love, and the pursuit of meaningful relationships in hopes that it’ll inspire you to experience life the same way.

MATT VON RODERICK

He rocks the trumpet. He sings. He writes songs. Classic. Cutting-edge. Raw. Emotional. A product of the vigorous New York City arts scene, Matt made his Carnegie Hall main stage debut as featured guest soloist with the New York Pops Orchestra through the invitation of Skitch Henderson, and was named top Jazz Artist by the Independent Music Awards as judged by rock music icon Lou Reed. Matt creates what All About Jazz calls “an other-worldly sound…something of a tour de force, he sings, plays, and uses his voice as a muted horn in a solo and duet with the trumpet…

seven-saturdays

SEVEN SATURDAYS

Jonathan D. Haskell’s work as Seven Saturdays is informed by the desolation of afterhours Los Angeles. From dimly lit Mulholland Drive to the isolated streets of Downtown, it is in these quiet moments symphonic landscapes emerge; coming together to form the headphone-centric Seven Saturdays. Seven Saturdays began as a creative concept in 2010 when Los Angeles musician/producer Jonathan D. Haskell wanted to sharpen his engineering skills on off days during the recording of his first two EPs (Seven Saturdays – which Stereogum described as “gripping and mellowly epic” – & The Snowflakes That Hit Us Became Our Stars). Over seven consecutive Saturdays, Haskell challenged himself to write, play and record an entire song each day. Not only did this exercise lead to the band’s namesake and a full-length album (2011’s Love In The Time Of Anticipated Defeat), it also grew into something Haskell had not anticipated. “It was really cathartic because not only did a fully realized ambient record emerge from this experience, but that vision ultimately expanded the boundaries of what I initially thought my musical direction would be,” Jonathan explains, “whereas the first EPs were more structured and orchestrated, these ‘ambient’ recordings were free and sonically expansive.”

DOZAYSOCIALMEDIA

DOZAY

Born in new York and move to Los Angeles at the age of 3 years, his mom settled in the city of west Covina, which has both its negative and positive influence, but with the help of his step father on his side, Dozay shaped into a respectful, dedicated and hard-working young man. Dozay states,”From the beginning I knew I wanted to entertain people because I thought it was super dope.: Although some consider his music to be more entertaining than regular hip hop/ rap, Dozay still tries to maintain the elements of hip hop in his own work. He always makes sure that he does not stray away from anything else that’s coming out musically and at the same time trying to give his music a bit of a make-up or face lift while trying to keep it real and delivering fresh while having fun at the same time. Dozay loves to entertain. He will always help sell tickets on behalf club promoters to club goers and in return the promoters will let him perform in the clubs for free. Behind Dozay, is the man they call “The African Jew”.(GSE) The African Jew has been in the music industry for over twelve years.

HOBOSEXUAL

“It’s a sound with scurvy, a creaming of fuzzed amplification that builds and fans out. Way out. Think Thin Lizzie (sic) and Black Sabbath burning on a pyre of Lincoln Logs. It’s a bloodletting of wattage with looping, chunked stacks of heaving guitars. If you’re afraid of the rock, don’t listen.” – Trent Moorman (The Stranger)

Since guitarist/vocalist Ben Harwood began the band in Seattle, Washington near the end of 2009, Hobosexual has been making the most of their local notoriety and having a hell of a great time. They sold out of the thousand-copy run of their self-titled debut CD (Hobosexual, 2010) before they’d toured more than an hour away from home and then recorded a live album at Seattle’s historic Columbia City Theater (Hobosexual: Live At The CCT, 2011), selling all two hundred cassette-only copies in a little over a month, all while they set the standard for other local rock duos with an uncompromising live sound that often sounds a hell of a lot more like a tastefully overdriven heavy metal quartet successfully attempting to drown out an exploding Boeing 747 engine. Now that Hobosexual has become a regular act at local music festivals (including the inaugural Timber Outdoor Music Festival in 2013 and Slack Fest – the raucous summer birthday celebration of KEXP-FM’s music director Don Yates – in 2012 and 2013), appeared on several local radio and TV broadcasts (notably KJR-FM’s Bob Rivers Morning Show, KEXP’s Audioasis with Hannah Levin, and Art Zone with Nancy Guppy), and sold out of their first self-produced line of pre-packaged 3-3/4” action figures, the band is releasing their second studio record, Hobosexual II. It’s fair to say that risks have been taken in making this album louder and heavier than the swampy lo-fidelity blues of their first release.

COLD BLOOD CLUB

Cold Blood Club is a dark, indie rock love letter to New York City that puts a new spin on the electro dance/pop sound with an edgy blend of soul and rock influences.  Inspired by life in New York and the likes of New Order, Depeche Mode, Broken Social Scene and The Flaming Lips, guitarist/songwriter Tom Stuart (Radio America) began writing songs for powerhouse singer Kendra Jones. What started as a small studio project quickly evolved into a collective of dynamic live musicians.  After recruiting former bandmates Jesse Reno (Radio America) to play bass and Brad Peterson (Earlymay) to join on lead vocals, Cold Blood Club was soon joined by wunderkind drummer Shin Kamei (Angela Jane), flame haired violinist Hilary Davis (Bella Koshka) and Adina Benno on keys.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew put another slammin' show in the books. Nestled in The Mint's Cozy Backroom Studio, Hot Tub kicked/curated a brilliant set for show #290 with jams from Angus Powell, The Knife, Blood Orange, Chet Faker, Das Tapes, Taalbi Brothersand more.

Brandon Dorsky, LA tastemaker, Lawyer, Manager and founder of the SUPERGOODMUSIC blog sat down with Hot Tub Johnnie for a special interview/dj set. Dorsky provided a dope playlist which included tracks from LA's own YNGCULT, Vindata, Odesza, Ed Sheeran x Kygo, Brother Ruxpin and much more. Be sure to follow the SUPERGOODMUSIC blog for all the latest LA show listings and music updates.

Kicking off the live portion of the show was LA based, Russian singer-songwriter, Elizaveta. Performing a stripped down set with just her keyboard, Elizaveta quieted the room as she soared through songs off her latest EP, "Hero"including the single "Sorry". Adding beautiful pop melodies accompanied by emotional piano hooks. Our next guest was Zach "ReaZon" Heiligman (former MPC master for Foster The People). The LA based (via Minnesota) MC, Producer, Songwriter premiered his new single. As we took to the show to the next level we were treated to hyped up Hip Hop performances by Chicago's own Keith Masters, who coasted through a blistering set of catchy, electro-hip hop jams. Following up Keith Masters, was none other than LA based, DIY MC, VerBS. Kyle Guy (aka VerBS) rocked through a set of hard yet, quirky, indie hip hop jams. LA's own, Awfully Awesome jumped up to the challenge next and slammed an chill vibin' set of laid back 90s based boom bap, hip hop cuts. Closing out the night was none other than HP favorite/LA based hip hop MC, Kosha Dillz. Kosha dropped some hard hitting beats and rhymes as he performed some of his classics like "Cellular Phone" and new cuts "What's Goin On Upstairs" and "Hangin' Out". LA based DJ, Producer, Songwriter, Brother Ruxpin was the man on the 1s and 2s all night. Ruxpin dropped some heavy dance cuts in his DJ set which saw him spinning for well over two hours of jams. He even premiered his latest single "Got A Light" (feat. Tru Collins) earlier in the night during Brandon Dorsky's set.

Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 5/05/2014

Elizaveta

“Alchemy and music are similar in nature,” she explains. “You throw seemingly disparate elements in a pot. If you do it correctly, they’re transmuted and something else takes form. I take opera, multiple voices, electronic beats, piano hooks, add a pop melody and create a song. Shake it all well, make sure it’s emotional and really means something, and you get something special”.

Keith Masters

Take the thoughtful lyricism of Lupe Fiasco, the R&B sentimentality of Drake, the bravado of Kanye West and throw on the Miami Vice soundtrack and you've got Electromajic; and Keith Masters is it's pioneer. His electronic, pop, and hip hop music can currently be heard on NBC, ESPN, The Oxygen Network, the NFL Network and the Fox Sports Network. He has worked with some of Europe’s hottest producers including Digikid84 and Futurecop!, as well as some buzzing artists in the US such as French Horn Rebellion, Hey Champ! and Kosha Dillz. If that’s not enough - Keith has had three top 5 singles charting on Hype Machine, and combine that with his impressive supporting performances with the Wu-Tang Clan, Foster The People and many others, Keith has proven that he is ready to embrace the spotlight.

John spent the first 20 years of his career in the music industry as an integral member of Windswept Music Publishing.  He helped take the company from a fledgling start-up to the largest independent Music Publisher in the world, a feat that recently resulted in one of the most lucrative catalogue sales in Music Publishing history.

In 2008 John applied the A&R/Publisher/Placement model to the branded Hunnypot name and established itself as a leading independent music publishing/placement company representing the catalogues of Far East Movement, Louis Prima Jr., The Dollyrots, Barnyard Stompers, Mochipet, Young Creatures, The Cataracs, Dr. Hollywood, A House For Lions, Bearheart, J*LABS and Ghost Lit Kingdom.

John’s early track record as a song-plugger boasts hits like Eric Clapton’s “Before You Accuse Me” and Vanessa Williams’ career-defining song “Save The Best For Last.”  Over the course of his industrious Publishing career, John has worked closely with some of the biggest songwriters of all-time including Sean Garrett (Usher “Yeah”, Fergie “London Bridge”), Mike Elizondo (50 Cent “In Da Club”, Mary J. Blige “Family Affair”) and Albert Hammond (Julio Iglesias “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before,” The Hollies “The Air That I Breathe”).

Mission

Hunnypot Unlimited was originally formed to create “community” within the then burgeoning film, television, ad and gaming music fields. After quickly accomplishing this mission by establishing itself as the epicenter of the industry’s social community, Hunnypot has gone on to acquire meaningful copyrights and masters, discover and develop commercially viable talent and leverage strong industry experience and relationships to generate significant income streams and exposure for our talent and our sponsor partners.

Company History

The name “Hunnypot” was first introduced in 2000 by music industry veterans John Anderson (at the time, Sr. VP of Creative/Film & TV for Windswept Music) and composer agent Tammy Krutchkoff. In an effort to bolster internal support for their soon-to-be highly significant and lucrative area of the Entertainment Industry, Hunnypot was originally designed as a “mixer” for the rapidly growing Film, Television, Ad and Gaming Music and Soundtrack fields. By way of monthly parties and one-off events throughout the world, the Hunnypot Party has come to symbolize an electrifying, exhilarating and stimulating experience for the entire creative community.

In November 2005, John Anderson and top-tier Music Supervisor PJ Bloom launched Hunnypot Radio; a live, interactive “listening session” emanating from the Hunnypot studios and streamed over the Internet at the HunnypotUnlimited.com site. This bi-weekly radio show draws a consistent audience of music and entertainment industry professionals, artists and songwriters, friends, acquaintances and the creative community at large. Not only has the radio show generated extraordinary industry buzz and favorable press, it has led to sponsorships from beverage and lifestyle companies (including Korbel Champagne, Tito’s Vodka, Bionade, Hubert’s Lemonade, Blue Microphones, IZZE & Kenwood Wines).

In September 2007 and after 18-years with the company, John Anderson left his role as Sr. VP of Film & TV Music/Creative at Windswept Music so that he could focus his attention on Hunnypot Unlimited in order to fulfill his greater, long-term goals for the brand.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew kicked off 2014 with a blazin' show last week at The Mint. Hot Tub treated us to new gems by The Dollyrots, Future Of The Left, Awfully Awesome, Future and much more.

Renowned LA based supervisor, Alyson Vidoli of GO Music Supervision joined us for a special interview/DJ Set. Alyson delivered an exceptional set of her current favorites over the past year til' now. Some highlights off her playlist wereFoster The People, Mansions On The Moon, Sharon Jones, Phantogram and much more.

Our next special guest of the night was none other than Detroit's own DJ Godfather. A true pioneer in the DJ world and known as the originator of Ghettotech, Godfather sat down for an intimate interview before he took over the 1s & 2s. We also had a chance to premiere his new single "Where The Hoes In This House" and "Super Swag".

Kicking off our live performances was LA based (via New Jersey) big screen/broadway actress, singer, Antonique Smith. Miss Smith set it off like no other with her beautiful vocals that soared over the soulful, r&b production layed out. Highlights included her opening track "Speechless" and debut single "Hold Up Wait A Minute (Woo Woo)".

Syracuse, NY based funk/hip hop trio, Sophistafunk was next to hit the stage and they did not disappoint. This multi-genre tour de force completely stole the show and opened up the dancefloor with their electronic infused funk dance grooves and catchy hip hop rhymes. The highlight of the night was their standout track "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" off their new album Freedom Is.

Closing out the night was LA/NY female alt/hip hop dance duo, Nola Darling. This spit fire duo performed a smokin' set of high energy hip hop dance tracks , none of which hit harder than their standout jams "STFU (Start The Riot)" and "No Bra, No Panties".

Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 01/13/2014

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio closed 2013 with another rockin' show last week at The Mint. Hot Tub dropped some of his top new digs which included tracks from Max Elto, Mansions On The Moon, Wavves, B.o.B., Charli XCX and many more.

Renowned LA based supervisor, Jonathan Weiss of Bunim-Murray Productions joined us for a special interview/DJ Set. Jonathan sparked a smokin' playlist ranging from punk throwbacks, cuban dance music and modern party songs. Including favorites from the likes of Ian Oliver, The Esquille Collection, Pharrell Williams, Poncho Sanchez and many more.

Kicking off the live performances was LA based rock quartet, Turbo Lightning. Fronted by lead singer Dana Poblete, Turbo Lightning displayed an eclectic set of high energy alt-rock jams that featured guitar heavy riffs backed by catchy hooks none more evident than on the title track to their 6-track EP "Faster Than Light".

Next up we featured a special dual-ling interview with DJ/Production duo, HTTP & the sexy and charming female rapper/songwriter/entertainer, Mickie Ryan. The three collaborating artists joined us for a sit down interview to talk about their creative process and to drop a few bangin' singles including the YouTube video smash "Not Too Drunk Too F*ck" and "Pay Me". Following the interview HTTP dropped a killer DJ set with some bombastic beats.

Hunnypot favorite and LA rapper, Kosha Dillz headlined the show with an exciting performance. Kosha is no stranger to Hunnypot and it showed as he completely light the stage up as he performed a fun high energy hip hop set, engaging with the crowd and getting everyone into party mode. Kosha dropped some of his classic jams and new cuts off his latest release, "Awkward In A Good Way".

Closing out the night was LA based hip hop duo, Awefully Awesome. Living up to their name the duo of Luck and Spex completely packed the house with a smooth chilled out performance of tracks off their latest album, ReFRESHments.

Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you!  12/30/2013

Turbo Lightning

TURBO LIGHTNING

In Los Angeles’ fertile, Smell-centered mid-2000s noise-rock scene, no one got as close to pure pop as the dearly departed Mae Shi, a supercollider that often sounded like a dozen bands’ ideas being realized at once. Not surprisingly, they’ve splintered into nearly a dozen other groups since their dissociation in 2009; specifically, band member Jeff Byron has created Batwings Catwings, Physical Forms (which included left-field rapper Busdriver as a member), and Turbo Lightning, a quartet that also pulls in Dana Poblete (Batwings Catwings), Aaron Farinelli, and Zach Lewis (Hex Horizontal). The first single from their self-titled EP (out November 15), “Faster Than Light”, is the most instantly accessible Mae Shi-affiliated output yet; whereas HLLLYH bounced off the walls, “Faster than Light” gallops forward with purpose and assurance, palm-muted metal riffs providing a pacesetter for Poblete’s sweetened vocals. Still, “Faster than Light” allows itself to veer from the center of the road, making judicious use of spirited cheerleading group vocals and spastic drum fills to remind you who’s behind this.

The Best of Hunnypot Radio

13 For '13

2013 has possibly been the most entertaining year of Hunnypot Radio Live. For the first time in recent memory, this TV & Film Music mixer has had full bands on every single happening. From The Central SAPC in Santa Monica, to The Avalon in Hollywood, to The Mint in West LA the standard Hunnypot swagger has been amplified (figuratively and literally) to a whole 'notha level. Since we are playing favorites regarding the year, it only makes sense to highlight out favorite HPR Live performances of 2013. These are our top 13, as voted on by members of Hunnypot's inner circle:

Alek Fin

Image

Alek Fin came to the radio show with an eclectic sound and did not hold back. Armed with a haunting voice, he captivated and mystified the room with precision and taste. His performance walked the tightrope between delicacy and power with reckless abandon – reminiscent of Radiohead’s sound on OK Computer.

Bite The Buffalo

Image

Two brothers from the UK who refuse to hold back. That is what was advertised. That is what was delivered. We could not have been happier. The brothers Goneos filled the room with hot fuzz and steam like a revved up Harley. Melodies soared to the sounds of pure, unadulterated rock. Consider the buffalo bitten; and the room smitten.

Chloe Riley

Image

And the Lord said: Let there be booty. And there was. And it was glorious. And hey: the music was on point as well! Ms. Riley lit the stage up with a neon personality, unapologetic swagger, and surprising grace. Lady put the werkin’ in twerkin’. Some how, some way, she was lovable the whole way through.

Eclectic Approach

Image

This Seattle-based band blew some minds with an incredibly tight performance infused with elements from rock, pop, soul, and everywhere in between. Rarely have we seen a new band seem so familiar, yet strikingly unique. Their originals were phenomenal, but a medley in the vein of Skeetwood Mac and Ballin’ Oats featuring hits from Sir Mix-A-Lot, Nazareth, Notorious B.I.G, and others brought on a group sing-a-long reminiscent of the Hunnypot days past.

Jive Mother Mary

Image

Real southern rock. A rare thing in Los Angeles, but Jive Mother Mary had more than enough to go around. Maybe our memory is hazy, but we cannot remember a time when more bourbon was guzzled at our radio show. Soaring guitar solos kissed in the light of the southern gods juxtaposed with down home vocal stylings got the club rowdier than a rattlesnake in a cotton fire. That’s a thing, right? Right? Well now it is. Well done, Jive Mother Mary. Well done.

Joachim Garraud

Image

This Parisian DJ/Producer knew what the crowd wanted. He knew what we needed. Filthy beats, inventive breakdowns, and a taste of the finer things marked his stellar performance as one of the greats of 2013. This is a man who knows how to throw a party. Scratch that. Joachim Garraud is a man who knows how to be the party.

King Washington

Image

King Washington put on a masterful performance. With pristine three-part harmonies, fearless songwriting, and an incredible band dynamic, this young band showed a level of musicianship far beyond their collective years. They displayed a rare ability to be at home in both love and pain – and they effortlessly tugged our collective heartstrings the entire time.

LA Font

Image

Old school met new school with a touch of no school when this intelligently wasted act washed up onstage. They were clever, hip, and more fun than a beach party on mescaline. We can attest to their growing reputation as true originals, and we’re more than willing to dive into the deep end again.

Stream Live :: Website :: Facebook :: Twitter

Lisa Loeb

Image

This lady has not been forgotten by the Hunnypot, nor the ranks of songwriters whom she has inspired, for her decade long stint as a musical mainstay. Ms. Loeb did not ask for the stage, she straight up took it. And while her performance was good as ever, it seems that she picked up a technique or two from a Mr. Dweezil Zappa; what we’re trying to say is that the lady can p-l-a-y.

Stream Live :: Website :: Facebook

Nova Rockafeller

Image

With a baby face and absolutely no fucks to give, Nova Rockafeller completely dispels the myth that Canadians are a polite people who do not wish to cause a problem. She will tell you herself - she is the problem. Or maybe the world is the problem? Eh, something tells us that philosophy may not be her bag.

Stream Live :: Twitter :: Facebook

Psych Ward Druggies

Image

Rarely does a music group’s name encapsulate their nature like the Psych Ward Druggies. They wear masks and move around like feral rap-zombies (frombies?) that just escaped the loony bin. They ambushed their own interview with a group freestyle that gave the entire room chills combined with a healthy dose of fear.

Stream Live :: Website :: Facebook :: Twitter

Purple

Image

This power trio from Texas ain’t your step-dad’s power trio from Texas. Don’t get us wrong; we hold Stevie Ray Vaughan in the holiest of holies – but this was something completely original. They rocked the room like a trailer park tornado full of tobacco spit and scrap metal while being cuter than a basket full of puppies and maintaining a remarkably unexpected level of innocence. Would they be welcome back at Hunnypot? As a wise man once said: Sheeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

Will And The Won’ts

Image

Will And The Won’ts made hot, passionate love to The Mint for 35 minutes, had a cigarette, and fled into the night (presumably on motorcycles made of Jack Daniels’ most poignant thoughts). We’d call them to say how good they were, but we bet that they’re too James Dean-y to pick up the phone… if they even have a phone. There’s a good chance that they deemed that phones “weren’t their style” – who are we to argue?

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew blew out another rockin' show last week at The Mint. Hot Tub dropped some of his top new digs which included tracks from Daniel DeBlanke, Mansions On The Roof, Prima Donna, Glass Animals, Kilkid, Lily Allen and many more.

Upcoming industry tastemaker and Lionsgate's own Film Music Creative Director, Nikki Triplett joined us for a very special sit down interview and DJ Set. Nikki curated an awesome set of her top trending artists like, ASTR, Flume, Blood Orange, King Washington, Classixx and more.

Kicking off the live performances was none other than upcoming LA/Hunnypot favorites, King Washington. This LA quartet completely set the stage for the night as KW rocked out with a smokin' set of rock n' roll gems, sprinkled with an alt-folk/indie vibe. The highlights of the night were definitely the standout album cuts "Old Highway 9" and "Land Without Age" taken off their new LP, The Overload out now!

LA alt-rockers, LA Font took to the stage next and dropped some high energy indie rock jams. Having just released their new album, Diving Man, the boys brought the heat on their title track and songs like "Onshore" and "Down The Road". Don't sleep on these rockin' LA boys as we expect a big 2014 for LA Font.

Closing out the night was Silver Lake based alt rockers, Decørator. This LA 5-piece outfit completely stole the show with an absolute brilliant set of fun upbeat, indie rock jams with killer pop hooks. Be sure to listen back to Decørator's complete performance here.

Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 12/16/2013

NIKKI TRIPLETT

Nikki Triplett comes to us from Lionsgate Film Music. She’s worked at Lionsgate for nearly 2 years and has worked on such films as THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2, NOW YOU SEE ME, RED 2 and the current mega hit THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. She was involved in the re-launching of LG Records that has since released original motion picture music for films such as THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, WARM BODIES, THE POSSESSION, EXPENDABLES 2. When Nikki’s not at work or attending shows she can be found attempting a handstand on practically any surface (esp after a glass of wine.. but doesn’t recommend others try this… Nikki is an (un)trained professional). This is Nikki’s first DJing gig and even though the Texan in her so desires, she promises not to play all country (hopefully…. yeehaw).

LA FONT

LA Font is a rock band based in Echo Park. If you read about music, you are probably familiar with Echo Park as it has become famous as the neighborhood a mere 7 miles northeast of where the Notorious B.I.G. was gunned down. Unlike the late Biggie Smalls, LA Font records a brand of rock and roll that some have branded “independent” or, for short, “indie.” There are other bands in Echo Park that have followed suit and made a similar brand of “inde rock.” Plus they have Golden Ladies. Check em out to see what I mean.
